HALLOWEEN
Well, my little goblins were disappointed this year! :( It's okay, really, we didn't need a ton of candy anyway, but there just isn't a whole lot of participation in trick or treating anymore. At least it seemed like it in my neighborhood. We went to about 4 houses and that was it. Nobody's lights were on and noone was passing out candy at all! There were a couple good sports, of course one had to answer the door in a costume that scared the bejeezus out of the poor boy! So that soured his trick or treat trek. :( I've noticed a big trend in going trick or treating at mass retailers or shopping malls. I would have gone to the event at our local grocery store from 4-8, but Chris had the car. :(
Well, the kids had fun dressing up in costumes for the day. The girl couldn't make up her mind and finally settled on the care bear costume from last year that was way too short for her!
Enjoy the pics. Oh, and the ones of me - Kyle took those shots of me..I was going for the frazzled mom look! :)

Poop
So, I emailed this to my mom and dad and I wanted to show you all that it isn't all butterflies and roses at my house. In fact, my email was titled : "Want a two year old?" hehehehehe! I told Mom that Emma can take care of my Dad who is just recovering from surgery! :) I really do treasure my kids, but these are those rare moments that I just wonder!
Okay. so far today, she woke up at 6AM....nice as pie..as the day has gone on she's turned on me! It's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde here. So far she's thrown the worlds biggest tantrum, kicking and screaming till she was almost throwing up because she didn't want a pull up on..but she didn't want panties on either! So she fought for like half an hour - I put her in her room - naked as a jaybird, she was crying to beat sixty and she wanted milk and I said you can come out and have milk, but you have to either put a pull up on or panties..oh.my. stars...the tears and screaming started again. This went on for half an hour..then I went and checked on her after the third time and she was sitting in there nice as ever reading a book and she goes "hi momma"..and I said, "would you like to come out and have lunch now? If you do, please put on panties or a pull up." She grabbed a pull up and nicely walked into the kitchen, put it on and ate all of her lunch. What the THUNDER was that all about??????????????????????????
So, fast forward to 15 minutes ago. She's supposed to be napping. Chris walks in the door and she hears him and is pounding on her bedroom door, so Chris walks in there and there is POOP............ALLLLLLL..........OOOOOVERRRRRRRR....its on her walls, her floor, her music box (had the biggest turd in her music box..it was like she was saving it).....poop in between the bristles of her my little pony brush..like she was trying to brush the poop..in a hair clip like she was trying to do the poop's hair....on her comforter.....pillow case..her hands, her legs and HER HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!! It took me three good scrubbings to get all the poop out of her hair..it was caked in like gum...at first I thought I had it all out, so I took her out of the bathtub to get her dressed and I could still smell it..I looked more closely..there was still poop in her hair..back in the tub..two more good scrubbings and it's finally all clean.
Urg.....I need a drink now! AND, it's only 2:30......no nap this afternoon..she'll be out by 6PM and then up at 5AM.....urg.......................

I took his hand and followed

So, lately, I've been so consumed with looking at December 14th, that I have forgotten about TODAY. I've been stressing myself out trying to plan plan plan....trying to raise what little money I can, raise money, money, money..and I've been forgetting that tomorrow(and December 14th) is not guaranteed, and even moreso after I read this poem the other day:
I Took His Hand and Followed
Mrs. Roy L. Peifer
My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn't make the bed,
I took his hand and followed
Where his eager footsteps led.
Oh yes, we went adventuring,
My little son and I...
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the summer sky
We waded in a crystal stream,
We wandered through a wood...
My kitchen wasn't swept today
But life was gay and good.
We found a cool, sun-dappled glade
And now my small son knows
How Mother Bunny hides her nest,
Where jack-in-the-pulpit grows.
We watched a robin feed her young,
We climbed a sunlit hill...
Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky,
We plucked a daffodil.
That my house was neglected,
That I didn't brush the stairs,
In twenty years, no one on earth
Will know, or even care.
But that I've helped my little boy
To noble manhood grow,
In twenty years, the whole wide world
May look and see and know
Today, I followed my children - my kitchen and living room are a mess, we played outside, I pushed both kids on the swingset, sat down and watched Emma play blocks and let them stay up until 9PM. This poem applies to both my son and daughter. I've been convicted the last few days about revisiting my priority list and being content in today and where we are, here, today.
Anyway, I just thougt that I would share this poem. It's very touching. the picture I have with this is old, as you can see since Em's not a baby anymore, but it's such a precious picture and so innocent..like my kiddos.

My first blog!!!!!!!
Well, gee. I don't know what or where to start! LOL (for those not familiar with cyber lingo, that stands for Laugh out Loud - I think!) hehehe
Summer is finally winding down here in the desert. The kids were outside all day today! There was nice sunshine with a cool breeze. I might even be able to turn off the A/C, no?
Well, maybe since this is my first blog I'll get you all up to speed!
Kyle will be 5 next month (can you beleive that???) and he is busy learning, learning, learning. He is doing great with his writing and recognition of his letters and numbers, is TOTALLY into science - he's going to love it when it comes to be his time to dissect a frog! LOL! He's a tall boy, I might add! You all knew it already, but let's just say at the mere age of 5, he is taller than most 6 year olds, so I'm already dreading that awkward stage. He's really become quite the little man. Very helpful, loves to help do the dishes and mop and sweep. I hope that lasts!
Emma turned 2 in May and, for lack of better words, is full of piss and vinegar! LOL! (Sorry folks!) She.is.so.ME. Dare I say I am sorry to my parents for whatever it is that I did to make them want to pull their hair out! LOL. Oh.my.thunder. Sassy little girl she is. She really is a loveable girl and so sweet, but when you cross her (or if Kyle crosses her) WATCH OUT! She is defintely a momma's girl. Loves butter like her momma did when she was little. In fact, many a time I've found her in her closet with the tub of butter. Oh my. LOL. She's my little left handed artist..my walls prove it. And, she's carrying on the name that Dad used to call me and still does: GABBY. This girl can TALK! I remember when I was pregnant with her, my cousin Wendy said she was excited to see a little Tanya Junior..well here she is..except instead of long curly brown hair like me..you've got a blondie! She is so like me it's unreal!
Chris has 10 weeks left of school and our plans after that are TBD until the next couple weeks go by. If any of you know me, you know I am chomping at the bit. Panicking because I have so much to do yet as far as squaring things away down here and packing and Kyle's birthday followed by the holidays - it's going to be a busy 11 weeks!
Me...I'm at home w/the kids and I do some daycare. I've taken up some hobbies like knitting, sewing (and I scored a free sewing machine...awesome!), I try to scrapbook when I have time, but really, I need to develop the over 5,000 pictures I have between shutterfly and snapfish! LOL. But, I'm not doing much of interest that it's worth writing home about! :)
Well, that's about it! :)
